GARY STROUTSOS, WORLD FLUTE ARTIST

'RETURN TO PACIFIC MOON'

Stroutsos returns to the Oregon Coast, the landscape both serene and stately, that inspired his 2001 recording “Pacific Moon.” This meditative soundscape of original works was a Billboard Critic's Choice CD, and was selected as an Amazon.com Top Ten New Age CD. One of over twenty recordings by the master flautist, “Pacific Moon” eloquently reflects the Oregon Coast's magical “Spirit of Place.” Stroutsos calls it a 'Celebration of the Power of the Sea' and looks forward to performing a special concert that is once again so close to Falcon Cove Beach where the Spirit of Place brought his flute music alive. 'Pacific Moon' also exhibits Stroutsos' talent at creating the perfect balance of Eastern and Western aesthetics and spirituality that transcends cultures and produces a unique musical expression, one that is truly global in the way it respects both tradition and a greater reverence for the Earth itself.

Gary Stroutsos has a long and highly acclaimed career as a performer, composer, educator, and cultural storyteller. His music displays a passion and great respect for a number of World Flute traditions including Native American, Asian, Cuban, and Jazz. His instrument repetoire includes Native American and Chinese flutes, Contemporary Clay Aerophones, Silver Alto, and C Concert flutes. His hundreds of concert performances range from meditative gatherings at mountain Buddhist temples in Japan to a command performance at the White House for President Clinton. He has performed and recorded in great natural settings such as Arizona's Canyon de Chelley, as well as intimate garden settings and retreats. Stroutsos has a true ability to create music this is meditative, reflective, and simultaneously culturally important. This “Return to Pacific Moon” will create a space in the hearts of listeners that puts them in touch with the magical beauty of the Oregon Coast, and with themselves.
