Formally known as the 'Reverie Harp'

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

Dateline - Monday, November 12, 2007.

After approximately four months of creating and promoting these harps, I received a telephone call from Music Maker's Kits, Inc. of Minnesota, informing me that they have applied for the Copyright of the name 'Reverie Harp' and that I need to find a new name for my version of this instrument.

Waking Spirit Harps is a small 'cottage' industry that is operated from the same studio as Waking Spirit Flutes and Waking Spirit Creations and does not have the clout that larger organizations such as Music Maker's Kits have so the only available choice I have is to change the name of the harps I create and that were previously known as 'Reverie Harps'.

My wife and I decided on the name 'Sensory Harp' which we feel is much more appropriate for our higher quality instruments.

One option that was offered by Music Maker's Kits was that I could continue to use the name 'Reverie Harp' if I bought their kits and created their harps to their specifications. Naturally, I decided that this would not be in the best interest of my customers or my little cottage industry as I would lose control over quality and design.

The most outrageous scenario that will occur as a result of Music Maker's Kits' decision to keep the name 'Reverie Harp' for themselves is that all the small independent luthiers who create these (or similar) harps will have to invent a new name for their instruments. The net result is that this instrument could well be known under dozens of different names. Isn't it wonderful that guitar makers managed to allow everyone to share that same name - Guitar!

My thanks to all those who have already communicated with me to share their comments and concerns over Music Maker's Kits, Inc., decision and for the support shown for Waking Spirit Harps.
