Native Americans enjoyed many special occasions and celebrated important times in people's lives. The Northwest Kwakiutl shamans wore cedar bark costumes and painted wooden head masks to represent the birdlike friends of the Spirits. The flutes in this series have been created to honor that almost forgotten tradition.
Created Alaskan Yellow Cedar, this instrument has a totally hand carved and hand painted Dance Mask fetish block. The sound emitted from this flute is as beautiful as its appearance.
The hand carved wooden feathers on the crown of the block have been inserted and bound to a special, fine sprung metal that allows the feathers to return to their original location should they be touched or moved.
The thonging on the block represents the cedar bark covering that would hide the head and shoulders of the wearer and is of the finest quality hide. The hide thonging is inserted into the block (for total strength and stability).
Available in all keys, this flute is concert tuned using the very latest in Strobe tuning technology and is ideal for players of all levels.
